ATL Tinkering Lab Plan

As we know that whole idea behind tinkering lab is to inculcate a sense of innovation in the mind of students.
I have enumerated some of the points if followed those could help strengthen our motto:
  1. We can divide our year into following:
    1. Problem Identification month.
    2. Problem solution Identification months.
    3. Discuss our solution in a debate competition and brainstorming sessions during the entire month.
    4. Prototype designing month.
    5. Prototype testing month, with testing our solution with different test cases.
    6. Solution implementation month.
    7. Publishing our solution
  2. We first jot down different types of problems that our world, country, humanity, school, kids or society faces – This step can be done in a meeting with some of the teachers in school. Brainstorming on the problems and selecting the problems those we think are solvable within our constraints. Almost 10-15 problems can be identified so that we can give these problems to the students, so that they can ponder upon the solution and write a synopsis for it.
  3. The time table can be as follows:-
January
  • Same as July
February
  • Same as August and September
March
Problem Identification and distribution month.

April
Solution Identification
  • Sessions can be organized to display the problems identified by us.
  • Several teams can be made so that they can work in group on the problem.
  • Activities like poster making, short film, seminar, essay writing and others can be thought for demonstrating the solution by the kids.
May
Brainstorming
  • In this month we can discuss on the most viable solution among the solutions, those identified in the previous month
  • Activities like debate, workshops, simulations, etc can be used to find the most cost effective, economically viable, futuristic, long lasting solution.
  • Some of the best solutions can be identified those can be taken forward for the next step.
  • Solutions those are not selected for prototyping can also be published online for comments and peer reviews.

In this month guest lectures can be organized for giving insights on different tools and techniques those can be used to solve a problem. Like session on Ai, Machine Learning, Software Modelling, Genetic Programming, Hardware designing, Optimization etc

June
Prototype
  • In this month we start prototype designing
  • Activities like clay modelling, casting, 3D printing, etc can be used for design.

In this month guest lectures can be organized for giving insights on different tools and techniques those can be used in prototype designing methods
July
Prototype testing
  • In this month we will test our prototypes using test cases
  • Test cases using different scenarios

In this month guest lectures can be organized for training students on techniques like designing test cases, scenario modelling, etc
August
Solution Implementation
  • In this month we will implement our solution in real life situations and observer our results.
  • Results can then be used to improve our model, if any deficiencies are found.
September
  • This month can be used to publish all our solutions to government for approval
  • Meanwhile, we can restart our process with next set of problems.

October
  • Same as April
November
  • Same as May
December
  • Same as June

I personally hope we can do wonders if the process is followed religiously by all of us. I would appreciate, if I can get your comments and suggestions on the draft plan.

Thanks

Changing Mindset in New India and points to ponder upon

I have been witnessing so much positive change in the air after 2014, which is changing Indians mindset from jobs seeker to startup generator. We in our life encounter different types of problems and to solve the problem we design a solution around the problem without giving a try to prototype the solution. In my recent interaction with the school students, I found that the system has changed a lot from the time I used to study in school. Now kids have so much exposure to the tools and techniques to design a prototype for solving the problem, getting the right guidance and expertise from people of different domains. With that rich experience, kids get guidance in problem-solving. The Indian government plan for designing ATL Tinkering labs by NITI Ayog is a remarkable idea. As a mentor of one of the lab in DAV Public School, Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh , I also get so much exposure to the new technology which has the potential to change the world. Sometimes I feel so l...

Education and Value System of our Country

My idea rotates around one thing how to make a student employable? In my career of 20 years, I have found that we Institutions and Universities are granting Degrees and churning big bucks from the pockets of poor students. We so-called Academicians and Educated people, do not take our job seriously and never care for the student. I have seen many professors and teachers those take teaching as a secondary job and primary job is administration. The administration is a place where people can get into power and get extra cash rather than teaching.  If we do not teach kids properly, then we are killing the life of our kids, killing our country`s future and parallelizing the humanity. If that kid does not understand what is being taught then whole life he will just be Homosapien not human. Values and Ethics are not taught but to be deep-rooted in the mind of our students. We teach subjects like Moral Science and Human Values & Ethics do you think the subject is making any differen...
